Consultant Urological Surgeon
Mr Faiz Mumtaz (MD, FRCS Eng, FRCS Urol) is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital. He had his postgraduate urological training in London at Royal Free Hospital and University college London. He has over the last 13 years developed a specialist interest in laparoscopic and robotic renal surgery. His expertise also includes surgery for renal tumours involving the cava/atrium as well as cytoreductive surgery to remove large kidney tumours prior to or following targeted immunotherapy for kidney cancer.
He has also established robotic renal surgery at the Royal Free Hospital and now routinely performs robotic removal of kidney tumours and reconstruction of obstructed kidneys. He also performs laparoscopic surgery for kidney and ureteric stones.
In addition to his specialist interest in renal surgery he is able to offer assessment and treatment for general urological conditions such as enlargement of prostate gland, elevated PSA, haematuria, urinary tract symptoms, circumcision and erectile dysfunction.
He is also the postgraduate lead for Urological training programme at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. He is the external examiner and a supervisor for postgraduate research degrees (MD and PhD). He has also published a textbook on Urological emergencies. In addition he has conducted various international workshops on minimally invasive renal cancer surgery and a successful national meeting on Advances in Urological Surgery in 2011.
He is also a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons (England). He has published widely and presented at both the national and international urological conferences.
