Dr Rimi Shah has broad experience in the management of Sexually Transmitted Infections, (STIs); sexual health issues, and HIV, with specialist interests in treatment of recurrent or chronic genital conditions including herpes (HSV), thrush, bacterial vaginosis (BV),  and warts (HPV); in general management of HIV and in STIs/ discharge in women.

Dr Shah offers a sympathetic ear, a holistic and supportive approach, and a sensitive, discreet service. Her reassuring manner, together with her commitment to delivering high quality, personalised care, are at the core of her practice, to ensure patients are always at the centre of their care.

Her NHS work is based at the Royal Free Hospital, as a Consultant in Genitourinary and HIV Medicine, and Sexual Health at both Royal free and Barnet sites for over 10 years. Her roles have included Clinical Lead for GUM/ HIV; Lead Clinician for Women and Pregnancy; Head of Services for the Department for 6 years (Barnet sites) and Course Director for GP STI education.

She has lectured widely, in the management of STIs; and in the care of Women with STIs/ HIV.

She is also a passionate advocate of reducing stigma and preconceptions, and raising awareness of STIs, and is actively involved in improving sexual health care, through on-going research and education and in her clinical practice

Out of work, Dr Shah is equally passionate about skiing, running, rock climbing and cooking/ experimenting with food from around the world, as a `foodie’, and a keen tennis player. She is also an enthusiastic but sadly, slow learner of conversational Italian.

She is happy to see private patients when they need to be seen including evenings and weekends and offers a culturally sensitive service for female patients.
