Mr Murali Somasundaram

Mr Murali Somasundaram is a general surgeon with a specialist interest in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. He was appointed as a substantive consultant within the Royal Free Trust, Barnet Hospital in July 2023. He took on the role as Service Line Lead for General Surgery at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals in September 2024.

Mr Somasundaram's current practice consists of elective and emergency general surgery procedures with some complex benign HPB surgery. During surgical training he completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford and clinical training within the London School of Surgery, where he had significant exposure to HPB, transplant, Upper GI and Colorectal Surgery. Mr Somasundaram has extensive connections throughout London and the ability to manage the majority of intra-abdominal conditions either independently or sourcing appropriate expertise.
