Consultant Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist
Dr Yiannis Kallis is a consultant hepatologist and gastroenterologist at the Royal Free Hospital and Barts Health (Royal London Hospital) specialising in treating conditions related to problems with liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts.
He graduated from Cambridge University with distinction in 1998, and completed his postgraduate medical training in London. He was awarded a PhD from Imperial College London in 2010 for his research into stem cells in liver fibrosis and regeneration.
His particular clinical interests lie in chronic liver disease, disorders of the bile ducts (PSC, PBC), advanced therapeutic endoscopy and in liver transplantation. He is local lead for ERCP and PBC services, and runs an outreach liver transplant service for NE London.
He sits on national clinical guideline committees, serves as specialist advisor to NICE, and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is also an honorary clinical senior lecturer.
When not working, he enjoys cycling, cooking and spending time with his young family.
