Dr Alex Ho is a consultant in gastroenterology and neuroendocrine tumours, practising at the Royal Free and Hadley Wood Hospitals. He completed his higher gastroenterology training in London, including advanced hepatology training at King’s College and Royal Free Hospitals. He has a broad and holistic skill set and is interested in all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology. He has expertise in diagnosing and managing common gastrointestinal and liver conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, alcohol related liver disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
In addition, he has a subspecialty interest in neuroendocrine tumours, an increasingly common cancer often affecting the digestive tract.
Dr Ho also has a strong research interest in gastroenterology, in particular with data science and predictive modelling. He holds an MSc from University of Edinburgh and PhD from University College London. He has presented research at British Society of Gastroenterology and European Association for the Study of the Liver annual conferences, winning abstract prizes. He has also published in leading journals such as Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Gastroenterology.
Dr Ho also is a passionate educator. He is a certified endoscopy trainer and is heavily involved in medical student and resident doctor training.
Outside of work, Dr Ho enjoys good food, travel and spending time with his family, and can often be found in the swimming pool early morning!
