Dr Robert Greenbaum
BSc(Hons) MD FRCP FBCS FESC FACC
Consultant Cardiologist
My undergraduate training was at University College London. My specialist training in cardiology was at The London Chest Hospital as a registrar and, later, at The Royal Free and Harefield Hospitals as a Senior Registrar. I have been a consultant for over 38 years.
I see patients with problems in all areas of cardiology - chest pain and angina; palpitations and heart rhythm disturbances; breathlessness and heart failure; heart murmurs and problems with high blood pressure and cholesterol.
I have had 37 years personal experience in both coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty and the assessment and referral of patients for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting surgery and valve replacement. I have had similar experience in the implantation of pacemakers. I now work with other expert colleagues for patients that require these procedures.
Since 2023 my main NHS focus has been on education and appraisal – I am the lead for undergraduate training in cardiology at Barnet Hospital.
In 2025 I was awarded a founding Fellowship by the British Cardiovascular Society.
I treat every patient as an individual and take great care in allowing them time to fully explain their problems and concerns. I take great care to put patients at their ease and to explain medical terms in a clear and understandable way - rather than using medical jargon.
In my medico-legal work I provide expert cardiological evidence in both civil (Clinical negligence and Personal injury) and criminal cases. I have also provided reports for HM Coroner and The Nursing & Midwifery Council.
I am a Member Secretary of State for Transport's Honorary Medical Advisory Panel on Driving and Disorders of the Cardiovascular System. In this role I advise on the granting of licences to individuals with complex cardiological problems.
