Mr Sherif Monib
MBBCH, MCs, FEBS
Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon
I am a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon in the West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which encompasses St Albans City Hospital, Watford General Hospital, and Hemel Hempstead Hospital. My private practice covers a wide range of hospitals, including Spire Harpenden Hospital, OSD Healthcare in Hemel Hempstead, Genesiscare in Milton Keynes, as well as Hadley Wood Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital in London.
My clinical practice includes the management of benign breast disease, breast cancer risk assessment and management, in addition to screen-detected and symptomatic breast cancer treatment using various image-guided oncoplastic and breast reconstruction techniques with excellent oncologic and aesthetic outcomes. In my NHS practice, I also undertake a full range of breast ultrasound scanning, guided biopsies, and reporting.
I appreciate the anxiety around breast-related conditions, so I conduct a one-stop diagnostic service, where my patients have everything done in one visit, then leave the clinic with a diagnosis. I am also quite aware of the enormous psychological and physical impact of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment modalities on my patients. I have been commended on my ability to communicate empathetically and clearly with my patients, reassuring them and navigating through personalised, complex shared decision-making to achieve an excellent outcome. In addition, I provide support services that complement traditional medical and surgical treatment modalities to help alleviate the impact of the diagnosis and treatment.
As a core member of the St Albans Breast Unit multidisciplinary team of West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, as well as Genesiscare Melton Keynes, I work closely with my medical and clinical oncology colleagues, radiologists, plastic surgeons, and other multidisciplinary team members to deliver excellent individualised patient care.
In addition to my clinical commitments, I am a General Medical Council Associate, a member of the St. George's University School of Medicine Faculty, and an examiner at Brunel Medical School.

My postgraduate academic qualifications include a Leadership and Management qualification, a Diploma in Breast Ultrasound Scanning from London South Bank University, a European Board of Breast Surgery Fellowship, Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, and a Master's degree in General Surgery.
