60 seconds with Grace Gutsa: Staff Nurse
What made you decide to get into nursing?
During my early years, one of my family members got unwell and was hospitalised. During my frequent visits, I admired the kindness and sympathy that the nurses displayed and that gave me inspiration to become a nurse.
Can you describe your role as a staff nurse in HWH?
My role in HWH is taking charge of the running of wards to ensure the delivery of quality services to patients.
What does a good working day look like to you?
A good working day for me is when everything goes according to plan and any issues that may arise are resolved.
How do you stay encouraged and motivated at work?
What encourages and motivates me is an increase in patient satisfaction and staff who are happy and work as a team.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
Outside of work I like meeting up with friends, shopping and watching movies at home.
If you could teleport yourself to anywhere or any place, where would it be and why?
It would be in the Caribbean! The tropical climate and beautiful beaches are perfect for relaxing.
What are you practically perfect at?
I would say kindness, respect and reassurance that I show to patients are my biggest strengths.
