Laser lipolysis is a form of liposuction carried out on patients, it uses advanced laser technology that can target fat cells within the body. These cells absorb the laser light allowing for the simple removal of the fat cells via suction through small incisions.
It is a treatment which will allow for the removal of stubborn excess fatty tissue, a small cannula is used containing a laser and it destroys the excess fat cells turning it to liquid fat that can then be absorbed by the bodies regular processes.
This procedure is performed under a local anaesthetic and lasts for around 60 minutes therefore is fairly quick procedure providing minimal discomfort with less bruising. The fibre optic laser will be inserted into the skin with the laser breaking down the fat cells. once the area requested is fully anaesthetised the fibre of the laser is inserted into the skin through the incision created by the anaesthetic, this will heal without the need of stitches.
After your treatment you may be required to wear a compression garment which will compress the area. This should be a faster recovery than normal liposuction as the procedure is a less invasive one therefore recovery should only be 2-3 days. You may also be advised to return for a checkup but this will be explained by your consultant.
