Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections are part of the treatment process for patients with orthopaedic conditions who normally require surgery such as:
- Achilles Tendinosis
- Golfers or Tennis Elbow
- Plantar Fasciitis
The formula PRP has a concentrated source of autologous platelet gel which releases (through degranulation), several different growth factors and other cytokines that allow the bone and soft tissue to heal. Injections will be carried out by one of our orthopaedic consultants who are highly skilled and able to offer patients specialist advice when concerning their treatment. They will also provide a full consultation to each patient discussing symptoms and medical history allowing us to decide the best course of action when treating your injuries.
How will the treatment work?
This treatment requires a minimal amount of blood being taken from the patient which is then placed in a centrifuge that spins and separates the platelets from the rest of the blood. The patients Platelets are then placed into a well concentrated formula which is injected to the patients area of injury. In total the procedure should last around 10-15 minutes. Average blood cells contain only 6% platelets but PRP will contain a much higher concentration of platelets. With a success rate of 70% – 80% it is recommended you get a PRP injection for general tendon or muscle injuries. Around 4-6 weeks should be allowed for complete healing.
Single Procedure – £425
Course of Three – £1200
